I'm looking into buying a gyro to install on the rudder of one of my planes.
Anybody have experience with using a gyro on aircraft? Any particular gyro you would recommend? I pretty much know what features are available on gyros. I just don't know which ones are necessary.

Please explain how you have yours set up, and what features are most important.

FWIW, please don't make this thread into one of those arguments over whether or not a person should even use a gyro.

That should help him out.

I bought one of the Hobbico Aero Gyros (about $110 for Tower) and had fun experimenting with it. I enjoyed the way it worked and bought a second one when they were on sale. I have a twin in the works and I'm hoping the gyro could help save my bacon at some point....

Good flying

Thanks for the input. That Hobbico Aero Gyro sounds perfect but they are now discontinued.

I think I'll go with the Expert 100. I don't need a more expensive one, cause I don't want heading-hold (I think). The Expert, like the Aero Gyro, can be turned off while in flight.
However, it can't be adjusted while in the air, though one post I read said that could still be done by plugging it into a rotary switch (channel 6 on my Hitec Prizm7) or a switch with trim adjustment (like channel 7 on my
Hitech Prizm)
