I compiled a lot of new cd-rom threads/links, notably these: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?=& threadid=127606

The mother of all threads (MOAT ), about forty pages, many pics, reading backwards suggested: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?s=& threadid=37545
http://gjkool.filternet.nl/

More links/threads in the following thread (poor Danes , work your way from the most recent to the eldest: http://www.rc-unionen.dk/nytforum/topic.asp? TOPIC_ID=368

As soon as I have the time (winter?), I will incorporate them in a new version of the FAQ (current version available at http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/lrk-torquemax/ ).

NOTE 1: cd-rom motors, although outrunners, are not lrk motors, they have a different winding diagram.
NOTE 2: don't use the original ringmagnets, replace them with Neodymium magnets for much better results
NOTE 3: a good and proven magnet source www.engconcepts.net

Out of curiosity what is the benefit of converting a CD-ROM motor for use in
RC models? Power, Efficiency, Weight, Cost? What kind of plane could one of those motors fly?

this looks really interesting. Thanks for the post. Is the aircraft in the first one an RC, or a free flight model?
