Hi Everyone, I'm trying to find the color scheme to the Pioneer Airlines DC-3. I have a black and white pic I found on net but need to know the colors for an art project I'm working on. Pioneer was a small airline that operated in Texas/ New Mexico area from 1946 to 1955. Don't know if any decal company has ever made a decal for it but if you happen to know of one I'd appreciate any help and would be willing to buy it. I need to build a DC-3 in the markings to begin the project. Thanks for any help. Check out my web site americanflightvisions.com and you can see some of my work and what keeps me out of trouble. Hi Deedlebomb, welcome to the forum. I hope you will like it here

You are right. The colors are hard to detect in the available data on the internet. Perhaps asking Continental (who bought Pioneers in 1955 I believe) could be helpful?

I take it the posters this (please click) site has online aren't much use...

Thanks for the great idea of checking with Continental. The time
table site for Pioneer was a great help for logo and as a result I'm guessing the colors on the a/c are probably red, white and blue but would have to guess from the black and white which goes where. Everytime I've done that I've been wrong. Will keep after it, and again thanks for your feedback. Deedlebomb

Gentlemen, thank you both. I really appreciate your efforts in helping me. I'll contact parkes682decals direct as he suggested to get rocking. check out my web site americanflightvisions.com to get an idea of the type of images I create. Have been a military modeler for most of my life but this past year the urge to create images of airliners which operated in the southwest U.S. during the late 40's thru early 60's has grabbed me by the throat and said "you will create me" and I'm really enjoying it. Love the internet because of guys like you. Thanks

Thanks for the kind words. You know the F-15 is one I have in the line up and never seem to get to it as there are so many other projects lined up. If you know someone who has build a nice one and want to photograph it and send me the pics, I'll make it happen.
The building time is my problem, because the modeler in me wants to build for competition standards and that conflicts with the photographer/image maker which just wants to shoot it and see it fly. The modeler usually wins out but it sure slows down picture production. Thanks for everything.

I dont know if you ever got an answer to your question about the Pioneer Airlines color scheme. I flew thru Dallas several times during those years of Pioneer and would see them in there and I keep thinking that they were a dark forest green but dont hold be to that. I could be wrong but I seem to come up with that picture in my mind when I try and think back to seeing them on the ramp there.
