Hi, everyone!
First of all I need to beg your pardon for my poor English.

Second, I make truck models with tin (flandres taken from ink tin container) and would like to appreciate your comments. They are in 1:25 scale. This is the hobby I like most.

They are not finished yet.

Hi ivangouveia,

Impressive work. I, too, model in tinplate. I'd be interested in knowing more about your techniques. How do you do compound curves, for instance?

Thanks,
Steamysteam

Steamysteam,

Thanks for your reply. What a good work you do with tinplate! It is simple, refined and complex at the same time.

In my case:
Compounding curves is not an easy task and maybe I will not be able to explain it in English. But I will try. Some models, specially the ones of the past thirty years have many curves. So, in my case, the curve is made by beating the tinplate until it gets in the shape I want. Sometimes it needs some litle cuts to make the curve easier. Almost all the times I have to weld the place and get it smooth with a tiny sander/polisher tool. So, the work must be painted to avoid rust.

You will find more of my work in http://www.oficinaaberta.com.br/fotos/fotos01.asp

Right now I am working in a project that will let me be able to press the tinplate.

you do utterly fantastic work!
I work in metal, mostly thicker than you do and mostly scrap metal (the price is right!)
An art teacher I had when I was 12 asked me when she saw some sculpture of mine how I made the metal bend to look like a human leg?
All I could tell her was "I lay the steel across a 4 by 4 board and start hitting it with a hammer, I stop when it looks the way I want it to look.?"
