Found out this is discontinued and looking for an appropriate replacement for my corsair. Can anyone offer some advice on this please? It doesn't have to be a spray....I need an excuse to spend more money!!

Thanks but I'm not too keen to place an order on a Japanese site for 2 cans of paint - it's not really cost effective.

You're right that there are lots of other paints out there that might be suitable. I was really trying to find out if anyone knew of an *authentic* colour to match the F4U-1D corsair that would be a suitable substitute, rather than me just guessing (and probably getting it wrong). Most reference photos I have are in black and white.

It can be ordered from Rainbow Ten: http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/index.html. In any case Gloss Sea
Blue is available from just about any hobby paint manufacturer although usually not in spray cans.

It can be: if you combine it with a model purchase.

Which is what you'd do if you were buying the same can of paint via mail order 'over here.'

If you need a rattle can substitute and don't want to order from Asia, someone somewhere has cross-matched Halford's car paint with some 'primary colours' used in modelling applications.

With several full bottles of Aeromaster or Polly Scale Sea Blue in the paint locker, I wouldn't resort to it, but I've seen Halford's Ford Midnite Blue used for GSB paint jobs. Toned down with satin or matte varnish, it doesn't look bad.

In the UK it's discontinued as confirmed by two of the largest model shops in the country, as well as the tamiya representative for the UK.

Try Xtracolor X121 (ANA 607 Non-Specular Sea Blue).
