I just started my .75 Tower Hobbies for the first time today. Very tight at first but loosed up, runs ok at 3/4 - full throttle but can't get it to idle.
Looking in the instructions it sez to turn the idle mixture screw to attain a
1/8" gap it and the spray nozzle. Looking into the carburetor all i see is what looks like the spray bar going all the way to the other side of the carburetor. The idle mixture screw does nothing. Is something screwed up with this carburetor?I see no gap, just what looks like the spray bar(brass rod)
going all the way to the othe side..
thanks for any help with this engine, i am not familiar with it...

There was a review of the Tower .75 in the latest RC Report. May be helpful to you.

Should have bought a GMS same engine but with a better Carb. $85.00 with the shipping.

Open the throttle wide open then back out the low end (idle) screw until you see a 1/8'' gap between the end of the spray bar and the end of the idle screw.

You have the idle mixture screw turned in so far that it's inside the spray bar. Take the advice of O4U2P "Open the throttle wide open then back out the low end (idle) screw until you see a 1/8'' gap between the end of the spray bar and the end of the idle screw."
I have this motor on my 60 size trainer and it runs great and pulls real strong. They are some of the tightest motors you'll find when brand new, but they loosen up real quick. The only problem you might encounter as many others have with this motor is not being able to shut down when the throttle is completely closed. There is probably an air leak somewhere on these motors, I guess.
These are not the finest motors out there, but a reasonable price for a decent motor.Good luck with it.

thanks for responding to my post. Last night i took the carburetor completely apart and found that the brass bar is machined into the carburetor bowl. I took out the idle mixture screw and the i guess what's called the spray bar, they fit inside this brass bar that goes across the bowl. My OS engine, I see the gap between the spray bar and idle mixture screw, this is a weird carburetor, i can get it to run, but not very good, not good enough to fly yet. I don't see in my instructions on the engine who to contact for questions, do you happen to know? have you had to contact TH for you .60 engine? I'm glad yours is running well..I'm not so sure i'll get another one...

I purchased a tower hobbies 61 this summer at a garge sale on a tower trainer it ran fine for a few flights now i can't get it to stay running seems to run fine until it warms up than you cannot advance the rpms it just dies like it was starved for fuel. I have redone the fuel tank thought it might be leaking air no change runs alittle and than quits, open to any advice about the tower 61 thinking of changing to a better engine like os.

You can try to seal the areas air can leak into the carb like the O ring on the base, the idle screw can have Teflon tape added to it, and check the remote needle to see if it's also sealed properly. What glow plug and fuel are you using?

Hello.

I am from Bogotá, Colombia and I hope the following might help you with your Tower engine.
I have a Tower .46 which is almost identical to the .75 except the size.
The gap mentioned should be between the idle screw and the spray bar. You should turn anticlockwise the idle screw until a gap appears between the spray bar and the screw. It will appear. Start your engine and break it in according to the instruction leaflet. Otherwise a reliable idle is difficult to obtain. After broken in, start again and adjust for maximum revs with carb open. Then slowly start to idle. If the engine suddenly quits, open a quarter of a turn the idle screw and repeat. If it idles OK but upon pushing to maximum revs it spits a lot of fuel and delays in getting maximum revs, close slowly the idle screw a little bit at a time, start engine, test again and observe. The idle screw should be used only when the maximum revs are achieved and the engine is working fine.
This carburetor is similar to the old Webra TN which I still own in a Webra Speed .61 circa 1975!!!! It works beautifully. The Tower engine works fine and idles very nice as long as you properly break it in and you adjust the idle very carefully. Once this idle is achieved no modification will be necessary. Contrary to other comments I have seen, the Tower engines are excellent and very reliable. I have used them for several years with no trouble at all. Good Luck!!!!

Hi, Are you sure the engine was properly broken in? If the engine is overheating, it could be that it was not properly broken in. It IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to break the engine in very carefully so maximum reliability and power are obtained. Also DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC OILS. Only Castor oil with a minimum of 20%. Good luck.
